Does Arrogance Make You Close Minded?

The dictionary definition of arrogance: offensive display of superiority or self-importance; overbearing pride.

If you’re convinced that you’re overwhelmingly superior to others, and thus your thoughts and beliefs are superior to others… you’re very likely to be closed-minded.

Is a ‘no nonsense’ attitude arrogant?  I don’t think it has to be . . . but it can be if coupled with erroneous assumptions. As Henry Winkler has noted: “Assumptions are the termites of relationships.”

Assumptions are sometimes natural to make. But that doesn’t mean they’re always right. When they’re not, you put your foot in your mouth. On the other hand, you are not considered close-minded if you realize your mistake and apologize for it.
